Pratit operates primarily in urban communities that fall below the poverty line (BPL). These destitute areas are plagued by poor infrastructure, illiteracy, and a heavy disease burden both communicable and chronic. Our work sites are concentrated in urban slums of Northern Kolkata and villages in the surrounding vicinity.

Since 2007 we have been working on holistic community level interventions that target the three major pillars of our operation: healthcare, education, and sustainable development. Currently, we have a year round staff in India that ensures the sustainability of our humanitarian missions.

Throughout the year, Pratit members from various Universities travel to India to work hand in hand with ground staff and community leaders, bringing global perspectives to local implementations.
